Many of us might find ourselves wishing we had more space in our homes. In this blog we will share a few tips on how to make the most of your living spaces.
We have some tips that will help you decorate small living spaces in your home. Inspired by a blog titled “Small living room ideas – 38 clever ways to plan and decorate a compact space”, this was written by actual interior designers! Whether you have a small living room, small bedroom, or small office, these decorating tips will help you maximize the space you do have. Small rooms still have potential to create an inviting element in your home if you highlight the features accordingly.
Allow us to show you how to incorporate an “Emmanuel” into your home:
Tip #1 – Hang Large Art in a Small Space

What? A large piece of art for a small wall? This might be an uncommon first-thought when you originally think of decorating a small living space, but filling a wall with smaller decor will make your room feel cluttered and even smaller. We recommend long, wide photographs. Hang 1-2 larger pieces on your wall in order to make the room feel bigger. This uses the wall space as one fluid piece of real estate – versus breaking it up into multiple mini-pieces – which can get a bit claustrophobic.
We LOVE this tip: Hang your art lower on the wall – just above your couch or furniture, NOT near the ceiling. This allows the eyes to stay level. Keeping the eyes level will avoid the eyes from wandering to the ceiling – we don’t want that! Bring the attention to the wide photograph that is elongating the space.
If you’re someone who has thought “This photograph is beautiful but I don’t have the room for it”, no more hesitating! This is the perfect solution – go big or go home!
With the choice of one panoramic photo as decor, Emmanuel’s photograph from South Dakota’s Badlands allows this room to feel very spacious. Although the choice of minimalistic furniture does help, sometimes less does equal more!
Tip #2 – Introduce Nature Into Your Room

Nature is so healing. Sometimes we all need a spot in our home that can be our “escape”. Why not bring that tranquil aura of nature inside of your home? If your room has windows, here is a good tip for this particular space: a mirror will help reflect light, and the nature and greenery from outside – therefore, giving the illusion of more space.
A light color scheme with accents of green will help make this room feel airy and light. Decorating with live or fake plants is another easy way to add a natural element into this room. For your walls, an “Emmanuel” centerpiece that complements this style is pictured above the sofa. The repeating green tones and natural elements in this room is like a well-needed breath of fresh air… literally!
Tip #3 – Monochromatic Color Scheme

Using the same color/different tones of the same color will allow features of the room to recede or feel infinite in length. This monochromatic room looks clean and simple because of the repeating choice in color – furniture and decor seem to blend into each other. Emmanuel has a wide range of photos you can select from to match any monochromatic scheme in your living space.
In this room, the monochromatic color scheme allows Emmanuel’s photograph of T.A. Moulton Barn, Grand Tetons, to be the center of attention.
We hope these tips and tricks help you enhance your small rooms that maximize their full potential. Emmanuel Fine Art Photography is the perfect solution with a touch of luxury – ideal for any size room, as we offer a wide range of sizes, ratios, styles and price points.
